Playint UT2004 Online

These are the procedures for connecting to Unreal Tournament 2004 Online.

Begin by loading the game. Once you are on the following screen select join game.



You will now appear on this screen. Highlight the favorites bar at the top.


Right click on the screen and select Add to Favorites. You should see the following:


Input the appropriate server address. Once this is done select join game at the bottom of the screen. In put the necessary password and enjoy the game.

Changing your character and charcater name in UT 2004

This is a tutorial for changing or editing your character in Unreal Tournament 2004.

First, press the escape key on your keyboard and you should see this screen.



Next, press the settings option on the bottom left of the screen followed by player on the heading bar and you will see your character

To change your character select change character which is found under your present character and search through the available options. After you have decided select OK.


In order to change the character name simply click on the name bar and type in the desired character name.

After editing the desired features press escape key twice and you should return to the game.

Unreal Tournament 2004 Install

My computer system is Microsoft XP Professional 2002. It is an Intel Pentium M processor with a 1400MHz, 585MHz with 512 MB RAM. Insert disc into disc drive. Unreal Anthology will automatically run, and a screen will appear with the option to play or install. Click install, and install shield wizard for Unreal Anthology will appear. Click next, and the End User License Agreement screen will appear. Accept the terms of the agreement and you will be asked to enter the key code found on the inside cover of the game. After entering the key code select next. You will then be asked to select the folder where the set up will install the files. I installed the files in C:\unreal anthology and selected next. Then the option to select or deselect which files to install will appear. I deselected Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Unreal II, leaving only Unreal Tournament 2004. You are then informed that the game will require 5.83 GB of memory as well as how much memory you have available on your computer. The ready to install program screen appears, and you will proceed to click installation. The game begins to install while images of the game appear in the background. You will be informed that the game has successfully installed Unreal Anthology. Click finish, installation/Unreal window will close.

A DVD-Rom stands for Digital Versatile Disk-Read Only Memory. It is an optical media storage device similar to a compact disk. During the 1990’s compact discs and super density discs were being developed. . IBM's president, Lou Gerstner, decided to unite the two efforts to prevent competition similar to that of the 1980’s, with the VHS and Betamax. Eventually the device moved from EFM modulation to EFM plus, which is less efficient but provides improved damage resiliency. The name digital video disk was changed to the digital versatile disk.

The DVD-Rom has replaced the CD-rom as a storage device. They can hold 4.38 gigabytes of information as oppose to 650 megabytes of storage capacity on the CD-Rom. DVDs can hold anywhere from 7.95-15.9 GB depending on if they are double sided, double layered, or both.

The DVD-Rom encodes data in the form of a spiraling trail of pits and lands separately by nanometers. The trail starts at the center of the DVD-rom and works around countless times until it reaches the outer edge. In the case of the double layer disk, the trail continues on a second layer of material. It is able to communicate with the computer through a DVD drive. A laser beam tracks the DVD as is spins, while a special device reads the intensity of the reflection as it bounces off the pits and lands. The reflective variance gets translated to bits of data which form bytes.

The DVD is facing new competition form Sony’s blue ray disc and Toshiba’s HD DVD. It is not yet clear which technology will win the succession over DVD. HD DVD discs have a lower capacity than Blu-ray discs. Other factors as to which format will win include Blu-ray Disc's larger hardware vendor and movie studio support, and HD DVD's faster read times.

Microsoft Silver Light Technology is a cross browser plug-in that allows browsers to create .net applications. It is intended to provide rich media and technology through video and graphics. Silver Light is deployable on Windows and Macintosh in Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. Microsoft has initiated direct competition with Adobe and their Flash player.

Silver Light has many supporters such as Major League Baseball and Netflix. The video broadcaster Brightcove, who currently displays its videos in Flash, is also planning on using the software. Broadcasting networks such as CBS plan on using the software as a way to bridge the gap between digital media and broadcasting. CBS users will be able to share, rate, comment, and search video images and audio files. Silver Light will also be used as the base of Microsoft’s Live Station Video Platform, which will stream live television at high quality over the internet.

A beta of Silverlight will be released at the Mix 07 concert later this month. It will be supported on mobile devices and push the boundaries of desktop media. The new software is being perceived as having higher quality than flash. Time will tell if this holds true.
